Dr. Nir Katchinskiy is a trailblazer in medical device technology, holding a Ph.D. in Electrical Biomedical Engineering with a focus on the research and development of novel medical devices and technologies, including femtosecond laser treatments for ocular conditions. He worked on innovative cancer treatment methods using pulsed laser-metallic nanostructures interactions and developed medical sensors for glucose detection. Nir specializes in the innovative use of femtosecond lasers for the treatment of ophthalmic conditions including AMD, glaucoma and vitreous floaters. He has successfully blended scientific research with business leadership, smoothly transitioning from scientist to CEO and co-founder of PulseMedica when the company emerged from the U of A laboratories in 2020. Under his guidance, the PulseMedica team has grown to over 30 FT staff, the team has made impressive strides in developing groundbreaking ophthalmic solutions to image and treat vitreous floaters, turning his scientific concepts into real, life-changing medical devices. Nir built a world-renowned board of directors and advisory board and raised a total of $14M USD to date.
