Israel Gasperin is a Software Engineer and Entrepreneur whose fascination with the human brain inspired him to found the neurotech startup Zentrela in 2016.

The goal of founding Zentrela was to create the first brainwave test capable of quickly and affordably analyzing people’s mental states. This innovation aimed to revolutionize multiple global markets that have been heavily relying on body fluid analysis and subjective tests since the 1950’s due to the absence of simple, low-cost, and rapid brain analysis methods outside clinical settings.

Between 2018 – 2021, after raising $2.2M from OBI, OCI, and Angel Investors, Israel Gasperin and his scientific team developed a proprietary wearable EEG headset, large EEG databases, and artificial intelligence capable of predicting people’s cognitive, mental or emotional states at unprecedented and scientifically proven accuracy levels. Zentrela’s brainwave test is called Cognalyzer® AI, a new research tool for scientists, researchers, investigators, law enforcers, and drug testing companies for more reliable (objective, quantifiable, and accurate) analysis.

The first commercial application of the Cognalyzer is for cannabis effect research. After 3 years of market development, the Cognalyzer has become the industry leading standard in objective and quantifiable cannabis psychoactive effect research with 30+ EEG studies, peer-reviewed publications and Health Canada’s approval and unique license for Category 3 NTRC studies.
With the ongoing global legalization of cannabis, markets in Germany, the US, Switzerland, and other European countries are adopting the Cognalyzer as the standard tool for studying and regulating cannabis psychoactive effects.

In 2024, Israel and his data science team utilized their unique databases and expertise in applying AI to raw EEG databases to create a new AI solution. This solution measures the relaxation or energizing effects of wellness and health products designed to help people relax, improve sleep, or boost energy.

Israel’s long-term vision is to fully harness EEG technology and AI/ML to detect and measure a broad spectrum of mental, cognitive, and emotional states, such as depression, anxiety, pain, the effects of psychedelics and alcohol, among others. This aims to globally revolutionize fields like research, safety, law enforcement, education, and e-commerce. Ultimately, Israel’s primary goal in life is to strive to become the best version of himself, enjoy life to the fullest, and help his team, clients, and humanity live healthier and happier lives.
