Sakeena is the CEO and co-founder of Savyn, an award-winning social impact venture providing evidence based neuropsychiatry PTSD therapies in software as a medical device platform. Savyn removes barriers to accessing care and builds inclusive mental health strategies to help refugees, immigrants, veterans and other trauma survivors heal.

Savyn’s clinical study in adults diagnosed with PTSD is promising, showing over 60% reduction in PTSD symptoms, distress, anxiety and depression by using Savyn’s digital platform.

Savyn is in market in Canada, supporting refugee and newcomer mental health needs, working in partnership with settlement and holistic services agencies across Canada. This program is funded by The Northpine Foundation.

Under Sakeena’s leadership, Savyn has won many social impact prizes, including Johnson & Johnson Social Impact prize for health, the Desjardin Cooperathon – Social Impact award and Penny Appeal Social Accelerator fund and also selected as a fellow for the MIT Solve program. Savyn was also recently selected as I.D.E.A.L. Bioscience Employer for Equity,Inclusion and Diversity.

Sakeena also wears other hijabs in addition to being a founder. Sakeena is an equity, inclusion and social justice consultant and trainer. She runs workshops on Islamophobia, bystander intervention, equity and inclusion issues for several organizations.She co-founded the first Muslim Faculty and Staff community network at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2017, advocating for systemic changes and starting conversations to learn about each other.
