Adam is a Co-Founder at Synakis, a pre-clinical biotech startup developing biomaterial-based treatments for ocular injuries and diseases to improve the lives of patients suffering from these conditions. Born and raised in Toronto, Adam obtained a BSc in Biological Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Guelph in 2011, an MSc in Organic Chemistry from the University of Guelph in 2014 while researching the synthesis of tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens under the supervision of France-Isabelle Auzanneau, and a PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Toronto in 2020 while researching mechanisms of biofilm exopolysaccharide synthesis under the supervision of Mark Nitz. Adam joined the lab of Synakis Co-Founder Molly Shoichet as a postdoc in 2021 where he has worked on developing Synakis’ core technology: a biomaterial for use in vitreoretinal surgery to improve the quality of recovery for patients.
